On Wednesday, January 22, 2025, the arrest of Daniel León Cifuentes, known as "El Tiger," was announced through social media. He is the alleged financial chief of La Unión Tepito and leader of the area in Polanco and Condesa in Mexico City (CDMX). "El Tiger" was the right-hand man of "El Pistache," who is currently incarcerated, and was the main responsible for drug trade and trafficking in the exclusive areas of CDMX.
According to information provided by journalist Antonio Nieto, Daniel Cifuentes managed to control La Unión Tepito in those areas due to his close relationship with "El Pistache," who assigned him various tasks in several areas of CDMX while he was in prison.
"El Tiger" was a key player in the organization because of his background in Business Administration, which allowed him to handle the finances of La Unión Tepito in Polanco and Condesa. Additionally, due to his financial skills and experience in the trade and sale of drugs in the most exclusive places, he rose within the organization under the supervision of "El Pistache."
Although his age has not been revealed, it is believed that "El Tiger" has been linked to La Unión Tepito for more than ten years, having been previously arrested and reverting to illegal activities in CDMX, as detailed by journalist Carlos Jiménez.
The arrest of "El Tiger" took place in the Benito Juárez mayoralty, following an investigation by the Secretary of Citizen Security (SSC) of CDMX at a residence located on Jesús Urueta Street in the Mexican capital. At the same location, he was arrested along with Jesús Israel "N," with 90 doses of cocaine, 99 doses of crystal, 500 grams of marijuana, a firearm, ammunition, and two cell phones found in their possession.
